Sports massage is a commonly known and widely practiced form of massage. In contrast to traditional Swedish massage – a relaxing, gliding massage using oils – Sports massage can be performed with the client fully clothed and the goal is not focused on relaxation. Sports focuses on stretches and prepping/recovering a client usually related to an event, but can be in regards to general tightness. It is a great addition to a Swedish massage, assisting in the relief of muscular tension. Injuries and joint disorders may be problematic for Sports massage, so make sure to discuss this with all health providers before your session.
